How to Tie a Palomar Knot
This is one of my favorite knots.
Easy to tie – Strong – and did I say easy to tie?
Instructions:
1. Double the line over to make a loop. Then feed the loop through the eyelet of the hook.
2. Hold the standing line and form an overhand knot as shown.
3. Pass the hook through the end of the loop.
4. Wet the line with a bit spit – studies have shown the knot to be stronger when tied with a bit of spit a lube.
5. Then pull on the hook, the standing line, and the tag end of the line to tighten the knot. Snug down tightly around the eyelet.
6. Trim the tag end . . . not the end attached to the rod!! ( I have clipped the wrong one more than once – wide open panic mode tuna bite to be exact )
7. Tying the Palomar Knot is complete. You are ready to go –
8. Works great for Iron too -
